God Bite

The adage is true: Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles; it empties today of its strength.

I was up at 3:30 a.m and invited God to consume the morning hours with His presence and power. He reminded me of a promise. It's not just a pie crust promise, easily made and easily broken; this promise stands up on stilts and the neon sign reads:

"Peace Formula."

"Let your moderation be known unto all men, The LORD is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:5-7

So how can we work and weave this into today!? Can we possibly have peace when figuratively there are pieces in our life we dislike?

The answer is "Yes!" In fact, God promises peace with the following formula I penned this morning.

PEACE FORMULA

  • You have a reputation of being kind
Moderation = kindness. In other words, kindness must ooze from us. Anyone can be kind to their Pastor and/or his wife, but what about a family member that irritates us, or a colleague that rubs us the wrong way, or a neighbor that has more prickles than a prickly pear? The reality of life is that our foes come in many forms.

Be kind!

  • You exercise a grateful heart
Thanklessness gets under God's collar and I have been convicted of my failure to thank God in all things, good and bad.

The formula must consist of praying, pleading, and praising. The thanksgiving is the yeast kneading the power behind your prayers.

God loves it and responds quickly to our attitude of gratitude.

Be thankful!

  • You procure the promise
When we follow the Philippians' formula the promise is guaranteed. In addition, the formula is a heart and mind keeper. A heart that is heavy with crazy feelings and a mind that is confused with crazy thinking, will be gathered into the loving arms of Jesus Christ

Like a feather dusty, the light of His glorious Word will clear the clutter and fill our hearts and minds with clarity.

Be ready!

Anchor your soul on this truth today.

These verses flooded me with grace this morning and I am so thankful to God for His Word and wonder.
